1 x 24” [60 cm] circular needle in US 5 [3.75 mm], or size needed to obtain gauge.
-
Stitch marker
-
Cable needle (optional; Technique included for the no cable needle cable)
-
Darning needle or crochet hook for weaving ends
Gauge: 27 sts & 33 rows in 4” [10 cm].
A note about gauge for this cowl: This pattern is written to make a cowl that has structure and will stay upright for good neck coverage. If you prefer a looser cowl with more drape, simply go up a needle size or two. Just be aware that doing so will use a bit more yarn so plan accordingly.
Finished measurement is approximately 23 ¾” [60.5 cm] circumference by 8” [20.5 cm] deep.
Notes: This cabled cowl is knit in the round from the bottom up. It is designed to be structural and maintain a somewhat close fit for warmth. To this end you will see a round of decreases near the top. If you want a looser fit simply omit the decrease round and continue working in pattern as set in previous rounds. As this is a simple C4F cable, I suggest that you play with not using a cable needle. The technique for this is explained in the pattern.
