Intro to Colorwork/Fair Isle Knitting

Pre-requisites:

-Casting on

-Knit Stitch

-Purl Stitch


Have you always been intrigued by the intricacy and beauty in Fair Isle pieces but didn’t know where to begin? Here is your chance to dive head first into the art of Colorwork! This class will focus on what you will need to know to get started on your next project. Below you will find topics of discussion as well as the materials you will bring to class:


Discussion Topics

-Reading Colorwork charts

-Color Dominance

-Introducing a second color to your work

-Catching Floats

-Duplicate Stitches


Materials Needed

-Two skeins of worsted weight (4) yarn in contrasting colors. You can use yarn from your stash or stop in at One Lupine and ask for guidance.

-Size US 7 knitting needles. You can use straight needles or circular needles

 

-Darning Needle

 

 

If you do not have materials you may purchase them before the class. Students will receive a 10% discount on all materials purchased on the day of the class.
